The NSW Cardiac Rehabilitation Working Group

In 2014 the NSW Cardiac Rehabilitation Working Group was established as a sub group of the NSW Cardiac Clinical Network to provide expert advice on improving cardiac rehabilitation services in NSW.

Chaired by the Heart Foundation, this multidisciplinary group of nurses, cardiologists, exercise physiologists, psychologists and researchers meets quarterly to progress action an annual work plan.

In 2016 key actions include:
  • Completion of a pilot program to test an agreed set of cardiac rehabilitation performance measures for NSW
  • Scoping the delivery of online cardiac rehabilitation training modules through the NSW Health Information & Training Institute.
  • Continued work on demystifying the cardiac rehabilitation experience to consumers through use of video, case studies, simple infographics and patient  resources
  • Working with the NSW Ministry of Health on provision of better cardiac care to Aboriginal people living in NSW.
