WEBINAR | Heart Health Checks: the critical role of the practice nurse

This webinar discusses the role of practice nurses in conducting heart health checks

Approximately 76,500 cardiovascular disease related events—including heart attacks, strokes and deaths—could be prevented with the uptake of Heart Health Checks over the next five years.

Together with GPs, general practice nurses are on the frontline of caring for Aussie hearts. The new Heart Health Check MBS item provides general practitioners and primary health care nurses with an incentivised opportunity to initiate an early and continuing relationship with their at-risk patients not already known to have CVD.

General practice nurses are at the heart of care

On Thursday, February 6, 2020,  the National Heart Foundation and the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) assembled a panel of experts so you can learn more about supporting the heart health of your patients.

This webinar includes practical advice on:
  • implementation of the new Heart Health Check MBS item
  • the role of the practice nurse in supporting absolute CVD risk assessment
  • new primary care data outlining gaps in practice around CVD risk factor assessment
  • system level nurse operated strategies to maximise quality improvement through the primary prevention of CVD
