3 Minute Research Competition Terms & Conditions

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. You are providing your information to the National Heart Foundation of Australia ABN 98 008 419 761 (Heart Foundation) and not to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. By participating in this promotion, you agree to a complete release of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram from any claims. Participation in this promotion is subject to the 3-minute Research Competition 2021 Details of Participation.

Any entrant found to be creating multiple social media accounts (e.g. multiple Twitter accounts) in order to submit more entries will be disqualified.

Details of Participation

Information on how to enter forms part of these Details of Participation and entry is deemed as acceptance of them.

No purchase is necessary to enter the contest or redeem prizes.

Contest commences on 12 July 2021 and entries close at 11:59 pm AEST on 1 August 2021.

Entries not received by that time & date or not completed in accordance with the Details of Participation will not be eligible to win.

Prize

Core Prizes: Three prizes, each comprising: a $1,000 prize grant that can be used for translation activities such as professional development training, creating journal articles, or attending a domestic research conference.

Bonus Prize: One additional ‘people’s choice’ prize comprising: a $1,000 prize grant that can be used for translation activities such as professional development training, creating journal articles, or attending a domestic research conference.

Total prize pool is valued at $4,000. 

All prize values are correct at the time of printing.

Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash unless otherwise indicated.

If any prize is unavailable, the promoter reserves the right to substitute another item for the prize, in its sole discretion, of equal or higher value, subject to the approval of the relevant Government department.

Who can enter

Contest is open to Heart Foundation Alumni members who submit a 3-minute video presenting their current Heart Foundation-funded research project.

Employees and volunteers of the promoter and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

How to enter

Only one entry per person is permitted. Entry is submitted by emailing a 3-minute research video to alumni@heartfoundation.org.au  by 11:59pm AEST on 1 August 2021 and registering to attend the Alumni Webinar at:

For the Core Prizes, entries will be judged based on the research project overview, potential research outcomes, the impact the research will have on the heart health of Australians and the video creativity by a panel of judges. 

All entries submitted become the property of the promoter.  Entries will not be returned to any entrant.  As a condition of entering this promotion, each entrant agrees to assign all of their rights, title and interest (including copyright) of the 3-minute video in and to their entry to the Promoter. The promoter is entitled to use any entry for any purposes at its discretion, including using the entry for future promotional and publicity purposes. Entrants to this competition assign all intellectual property rights in the entry to the Promoter and indemnify the promoter in respect of any infringement or alleged infringement of the intellectual property rights (including copyright) of any person, arising out of the promoter’s use of the entry. Entrants consent to any act or omission of the promoter that might otherwise breach the Entrant’s moral rights in the entry.

Judging

This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the Core Prize winners. Chance may play some part in determining the Bonus Prize winner.

The Core Prize winners will be the entries judged to be the best presented research project overviews, the best potential research outcomes, and based on the impact the research will have on the heart health of Australians.

Judging will take place between 2 – 6 August 2021. 

The Bonus Prize will be awarded during the webinar and will be chosen from the three Core Prize winning videos. Attendees will vote for the best presented research project overviews, the best potential research outcomes, and based on the impact the research will have on the heart health of Australians.

Neither the promoter nor any of their agencies are responsible for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, incomplete or ineligible entries.

The Promoter’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Notification

Winners will be notified by phone or email where possible.

The winners' names will be presented during the live alumni webinar on 18 August 2021 and published on www.heartfoundation.org.au during the week beginning 23 August 2021.
