Cardiac MRI Versus Endomyocardial Biopsy in Cardiac Allograft Rejection Detection
Dr Chris Anthony, Institution: Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Limited
Years funded: 2017-2020
The aim of our research is to demonstrate that Cardiac MRI has a higher detection rate of acute cardiac transplant than the current gold standard of cardiac biopsy. Through this project we also aim to demonstrate that patient outcomes due to the higher sensitivity of CMR will be non-inferior to patients treated for rejection based on biopsy result alone, being the first randomised study of its kind in the world.
